New Ambitions

I decided recently that I'm going to actually buy production equipment to make my own beats and such. I'm most likely going to work on getting an MPC500, not too much money, considering all the other MPC's are a ridiculous 1000 + bucks. But lets just see how much money I make.

I'd Figure it would be a great investment. I ain't looking to be some kind of producer, just making beats is a hobby in itself.

Oh right, here's a song for you guys

One of my favorite groups of all time, De La Soul are legends and experts at their craft. They have been making music since the late eighties, and haven't stopped since. These guys will probably be mentioned in our artists section sometime soon...

Anyways, they are a 3 man team. Even though they produce their own stuff, they sometimes had J Dilla produce a few tracks for them (who will be mentioned in the producer section, look out for that. This one is just an absolute classic.

The sample is from Swahili-land, a track performed by one of my favorite jazz pianists Ahmad Jamal. The sample comes in at 8:06 and ends at 8:10.

It takes a genius like Dilla to pick out something minuscule like that and turn it into a song like ''Stakes is High''.
